TMZ reported that although the Euphoria actress obtained a FilmLA permit to film the sign, she lacked authorization to physically touch or scale the landmark itself. In a statement to The Irish Star, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said, \u201cThe production involving Sydney Sweeney and the Hollywood\u00ae Sign, as reported by TMZ, was not authorized by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce nor did we have prior knowledge of it.\u201d
\nThey continued, \u201cThe Hollywood Chamber of Commerce owns the intellectual property rights to the image of the Hollywood\u00ae Sign, so that anyone intending to use and\/or access the Hollywood\u00ae Sign for commercial purposes must obtain a license or permission from the Hollywood Chamber to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce went on to add that they \u201cdid not grant a license or permission of any kind to the production involving Sydney Sweeney as reported by TMZ, nor did anyone seek a license or permission from the Chamber for that production.\u201d<\/p>\n
