Hidden among the millions of pages released in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation were disturbing images showing young women with handwritten references to \u201cLolita,\u201d the controversial novel centered on the sexualization of a 12-year-old girl.
\nThe photographs were among millions of pages of records, images and videos released through a series of disclosures tied to the Epstein Transparency Act, legislation passed nearly unanimously by Congress and signed into law by President Donald Trump in November 2025.<\/p>\n
The law required the release of all unclassified materials connected to the Epstein investigation, with the largest disclosure arriving in January 2026. That release included more than 3 million pages of records, 180,000 images and 2,000 videos linked to the case.<\/p>\n
The disclosures offered one of the most comprehensive looks at materials tied to Epstein\u2019s associates, properties and alleged sex trafficking operation, bringing renewed attention to evidence collected over years of investigations.<\/p>\n
Epstein and Maxwell
\nThe 66-year-old disgraced financier was arrested in July 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy after prosecutors accused him of exploiting dozens of underage girls through a network of wealth, influence and longtime associates. He died by suicide only one month later while in federal custody at New York\u2019s Metropolitan Correctional Center.<\/p>\n
Although Epstein never stood trial, investigations into his network continued after his death, along with civil litigation involving his estate.<\/p>\n
His longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, was convicted in 2021 on multiple federal charges related to sex trafficking and is serving a 20-year prison sentence. Prosecutors described her as playing a central role in recruiting and grooming young victims for Epstein.<\/p>\n
Records revealed troubling details
\nAmong the materials released by the House Oversight Committee were redacted passports belonging to women from countries including Russia, Morocco, South Africa and Ukraine.<\/p>\n
The collection also included photographs of Epstein alongside several well-known figures, including Bill Gates, Steve Bannon, Woody Allen, Noam Chomsky and Google co-founder Sergey Brin. Two of the images showed Gates with unidentified women whose faces had been obscured for privacy.<\/p>\n
Gates, who has acknowledged meeting with Epstein on multiple occasions, has repeatedly denied any involvement in his crimes, saying his friendship was a \u201chuge mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIn retrospect, I was foolish to spend any time with him. And he, sort of, got time with various people by spending time with other people,\u201d Gates told the WSJ, per People. \u201cSo yes, I think I was quite stupid. I thought it would help me with global health philanthropy. In fact, it failed to do that it was just a huge mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n
Investigators also released images of Epstein\u2019s passport identifying him as \u201ca registered sex offender\u201d who had been \u201cconvicted of a sex offence against a minor,\u201d along with maps of Great St. James Island, one of his private U.S. Virgin Islands properties where multiple investigations alleged abuse and trafficking took place.<\/p>\n
\u2018I will send u girls now\u2019
\nAnother document that drew widespread attention was a screenshot of an alleged text message exchange appearing to discuss the recruitment of an 18-year-old woman from Russia.<\/p>\n
One unidentified sender wrote: \u201cI don\u2019t know, try to send someone else. I have a friend scout she sent me some girls today. But she asks 1000$ per girl. I will send u girls now. Maybe someone will be good for J?\u201d<\/p>\n
Several reports noted that the exchange was consistent with allegations outlined in court filings and survivor testimony describing how girls were recruited and transported to Epstein\u2019s properties.<\/p>\n
\u2018Lo-lee-ta\u2019
\nAmong the most disturbing images were photographs of women whose identities had been concealed, showing handwritten quotes written across their arms, legs and feet.<\/p>\n
Each message was part of one paragraph \u2013 verbatim \u2013 pulled from Vladimir Nabokov\u2019s 1955 novel \u201cLolita,\u201d a controversial book centered on a middle-aged man\u2019s sexual victimization of a 12-year-old girl.<\/p>\n
One woman\u2019s neck is marked in black ink with the line: \u201cLo-lee-ta. The tip of her tongue, taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth,\u201d and another photo shows, \u201cShe was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock,\u201d inked on a foot.<\/p>\n
Other body parts had the messages: \u201cShe was Lola in slacks,\u201d \u201cShe was Dolly at school\u201d and \u201cShe was Dolores on the dotted line.\u201d<\/p>\n
The photographs quickly became one of the most unsettling discoveries from the document releases, drawing renewed scrutiny to the material recovered during the investigation and the disturbing details that continued to emerge long after Epstein\u2019s death.<\/p>\n
