Adam Robinson, 45, was a technology entrepreneur behind companies including Retention.com and RB2B, building marketing tools that helped other businesses grow. Friends and colleagues remembered him as a devoted father whose success gave him more time with the people he loved, an innovative leader who encouraged others to question conventional ways of building a business, and a mentor whose enthusiasm left its mark on everyone around him. A friend recalled that he had recently spoken about how happy he was — with his family, and with his growing businesses — and about the time he spent with his children and his support for his wife’s artistic career.

About six months before the crash, on April 17, Robinson posted a short message on X about business independence: “You don’t need to crash a plane to learn to fly… and you don’t need VC to build a business.” At the time, it was a line about entrepreneurship — about building a company without traditional venture-capital financing — and nothing more. Nobody reading it then would have taken it as anything other than business advice.

On 1 November 2026, a private Learjet 60 travelling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas went down near Greenacres in Palm Beach County, Florida, killing all nine people aboard. Robinson was on board with his wife, his children, their caregiver, friends, and the two pilots; the family had reportedly been travelling to celebrate a birthday and spend a week together. Investigators examined the flight’s final moments, including reports of turbulence, ice accumulation and difficult weather, and preliminary evidence suggested parts of the aircraft may have separated before impact — but officials emphasised the cause remained undetermined.

After the tragedy, internet users unearthed Robinson’s April post, and the phrase “crash a plane” in it left many readers stunned at the coincidence. The article itself is explicit, and so is this post: it was not a prediction. The message was about business, written months before the flight, and its renewed attention is purely an extraordinary coincidence. Grieving relatives remembered the passengers for their generosity, kindness and strong family bonds, thanked emergency workers and the community, and asked for privacy; Robinson’s company also paid tribute to him.
