Having a micropenis is rare – in fact, it’s estimated that in the US, approximately 1.5 in 10,000 newborns are born with micropenises -, and it’s even rarer to hear someone opening up about what it’s like to have one.<\/p>\n

However, one man has recently spoken about having a micropenis and how it impacts his dating life.<\/p>\n

What is a micropenis?
\nMicropenis is a medical term for a normally structured, but small penis. It is often noted during childhood, and hormonal or genetic factors can contribute to the development of the condition.<\/p>\n

Cleveland Clinic explain: “As long as no other health concerns are present, a micropenis can function normally. People with micropenis are still able to urinate (pee) and have erections.”
\nA micropenis is generally diagnosed if the length is ‘less than 2.5 standard deviations below the average’. For example, the average stretched penis length is 5.25 inches, while a stretched penis length of 3.67 inches indicates a micropenis.<\/p>\n

What are the treatments for a micropenis?
\nTreatment for a micropenis is not required if the size does not impact sexual function, fertility, urination or mental health.<\/p>\n

However, there are a number of treatment options that can be considered for those who wish to seek medical help.<\/p>\n

Hormonal therapy
\nAccording to verywellhealth, children with a micropenis can be given injections of testosterone which could increase penis size. This is said to be most effective in kids under the age of three.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, injections of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) can be given in addition.<\/p>\n

Finally, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) can be applied to the penis in a topical gel and has been shows to increase stretched penis length in some.<\/p>\n

Surgery
\nSome may consider surgery, such as suspensory ligament release which involves cutting the ligament that supports the penis.<\/p>\n

This reportedly allows the penis to appear larger.<\/p>\n

Fertility treatment
\nFor those with a micropenis who want to start a family, but are struggling to conceive, intra-uterine insemination (IUI), in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) could be an option.<\/p>\n

Mental health
\nThere is support out there for people who are struggling with their mental health. For example, therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can help and aid with any self-esteem challenges.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old appeared on Joe Santagato and Greg Dybec’s podcast, Other People’s Lives, where he explained had to experience a heartbreaking two-word response from someone he was dating.<\/p>\n

Sharing that he would \u2018cut\u2019 dating off because he \u2018was nervous and scared\u2019, there was a lot of worry for him that he wouldn\u2019t be accepted by his partner.<\/p>\n

\nFor years, he was unable to get into deep relationships, but there was one time where he decided it was time, and revealed his micropenis to a woman he had \u2018proper feelings for\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe knew it was terrible, which she tried her hardest not to tell me,\u201d he said. \u201cBut she\u2019s an honest person as well, and I could tell… I don\u2019t blame a woman for thinking, \u2018I don\u2019t want this.\u2019 I don\u2019t blame that at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

One day, they were watching a film when a sexual scene made her say: \u201cOh, I\u2019m scared now, I\u2019m nervous.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nAccording to Healthline, several hormonal factors could cause a micropenis, particularly androgen hormones like testosterone.<\/p>\n

As the male fetus develops in the womb, the penis responds to these hormones, however, if it doesn’t respond to the production of androgen hormones, then this cause result in a micropenis.<\/p>\n

Though it isn’t always clear why some are born with a hormone disorder which has resulted in a micropenis, a few conditions are often associated with it, including:<\/p>\n

hypogonadism
\ngrowth hormone deficiency
\nDown syndrome
\nPrader-Willi syndrome<\/p>\n

\nA few treatments for a micropenis involved hormone therapy at a young age, which is often administered through an injection, gel or ointment directly on a person’s genitalia.<\/p>\n

While surgery is also an option, there are non-surgical options, like a penis pump, stretches and exercises, or filler injections.<\/p>\n

Though it is recommended to consult a doctor before undergoing any treatments.<\/p>\n

Although others with the condition have revealed how it has negatively impacted them, especially in terms of dating, some have revealed that there can be advantages to it.<\/p>\n

One woman whose partner has a micropenis has also opened up about their sex life, describing it as being ‘more fulfilling than ever’.<\/p>\n

As reported by The Daily Record, she recalled the stranger saying softly: \u201cI think we should talk. I\u2019m Denise. I was with your dad for 15 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

At first, the daughter thought it had to be some kind of mistake. But then Denise pulled out her phone and showed photo after photo: her dad at birthdays, Christmas dinners, and holidays, right up to this year.<\/p>\n

There was no denying it anymore. Her dad hadn\u2019t just been cheating, he\u2019d been living a full-blown double life.<\/p>\n

The daughter wrote: \u201cShe said he\u2019d told her my mom had passed away years ago\u2026 He\u2019d been living a double life for almost two decades, splitting time between \u2018work trips\u2019 that were really weekends with her. My mom\u2019s entire face crumpled when I told her. They\u2019d just celebrated their 40th anniversary.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both families, it turned out, had no idea the other even existed until that day.<\/p>\n

Reddit users flooded the comments of the thread, expressing everything from disbelief to heartbreak.<\/p>\n

One person on the social media platform summed up the mood perfectly: \u201cDouble life, double grief. You\u2019re mourning the man who raised you and the illusion he built. That\u2019s the worst kind of loss, when even your memories feel like lies.\u201d<\/p>\n
