The morning in the park was calm and warm. Veronica finished her run, stopped by a side alley, and tried to catch her breath. The workout had been tough, but enjoyable. Her hair was pulled back into a high ponytail, a thin gold chain around her neck, and a sports watch on her wrist. She loved these rare weekends when she could just be alone.<\/p>\n
The alley was almost empty. The damp air after the overnight rain smelled of leaves and freshness. Veronica was about to head for the exit when she heard the sudden roar of engines behind her.<\/p>\n

And at that moment, from around the bend in the alley, from the shadows of the trees, two large men slowly emerged. They were the girl\u2019s bodyguards. Tall, dressed in black, with cold faces. They moved calmly, without fuss, but their gait conveyed a sense of power.<\/p>\n
